The thoughts and content of this topic may or may not be cohesive when looked upon in their entirety.  However I will do my best to maintain a thread of sorts.  I find that the more I try to define what I will be discussing about “two living as one” the more it eludes me.

I want to start with a quote from George Bernard Shaw about marriage that I came across on: The Quote Garden

“When two people are under the influence of the most violent, most insane, most delusive, and most transient of passions, they are required to swear that they will remain in that excited, abnormal, and exhausting condition continuously until death do them part.”  Getting Married, George Bernard Shaw (1908)

The text of this book can be found at the Project Gutenberg web site.  This book will find it’s way to my reading list.

Not that I agree with the thesis behind this statement, just that this is so apropos to the understanding of most persons concept of marriage.
